 Intra apartment Tennis Tournament After a gap of nearly 7 years I took part in a tennis tournament at my apartment community in Bangalore. Unlike the younger days when I used to participate in league matches, I was a bit rusty on the tournament front. The funny thing is I do not find many women playing in the community. Hence to have a separate women’s tournament at the community is impossible. Therefore I persuaded my tennis male buddies to allow me to participate in the tournament when the idea was first mooted. They did not need much persuasion as they know I am a certified tennis lover like all of them. This brings an important point, most minorities just want to be treated equally and get a seat at the table. Game,set and match I knew my shot of winning a tournament like this was a long one. Coldplay concert- An enriching experience!

  January started with a bang being busy at work as soon as the month started. December was a forgotten dream and it was really tough to hit the ground running. However, there were moments of bliss and one such experience is what I am going to write about today- The coldplay experience!!! A music concert like no other that warrants a blog post . I was a bit worried when I received a midnight call from my cousin Hrishi. "Was everything alright??" was my immediate thought and picked up the phone with fear. This feeling quickly turned to happiness when he said “Hey Papu do you want coldplay tickets, only catch is you have to fly to Bombay”. I leapt out of bed and did a merry dance and said yes I will confirm in the morning. My husband who had just returned from the US from a conference trip and was suffering from jet lag remarked “Not me I am not a fan and don’t know their songs but I know you are a certified nut. Country roads!

"Almost heaven, west virginia Blue ridge mountains, shenandoah river Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place, I be-long West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads" Yep I visited John Denver's west virginia over the weekend. I understood the mood behind the song. It's really beautiful and had a typical country setting. After hiking through the dense forests of cannon valley, I sat at one place in the middle of the forest. I just observed the trees and the mountains. It was calming. I never thought I was a nature person but the surroundings probably does that to people. It's a must visit place. I really had a blast. Of course I did a lot of other "city" like activities like swimming, sauna, playing pool and partying:) Phew a hectic weekend! I need another weekend just to unwind.
